Bentos

Where have my bento pictures been?  Our wonderful Nikon D40's shutter died and had to be sent to Nikon for repair so we weren't taking pictures of anything for a long while.  Now that it's back I'm back into the swing of taking pictures of everything.  Last week was only a three day week with a staff day followed by Nevada day.  Of course Etta picked to buy her lunch one day so I only had to make two lunches yesterday.  What an easy week.
Monday: Bunny sandwich.  Take a slice of bread and slice it into 4 slices (for two lunches).  Spread jelly on each slice and fold it over to make an ear.  Make a sandwich of your choice and cut it out with a biscuit cutter or a glass cup. Decorate it with carrot peelings.  Add fruits and veggies to round out the meal.

Tuesday: Giraffe on rice.  Use rice or couscous.  Cut out cheese body and spots from sliced turkey.  Carrot ears and mouth. Black sesame eyes.  Green beans for tall grass.  This was a hit with Etta.

This week is a normal week for Etta which means lots of bento making.

The giraffe was a hit! The girls really enjoy lunches now. I love their face when I show them their lunch before putting it in the backpack. Makes it worth the extra effort.
