We have been in the process of getting things ready for our move to Japan and one of those things has been Skype. If you are unfamiliar with it, it's a way to communicate with friends and family through the internet via webcam and microphone. Eric's new tablet PC has everything built in so all we had to do was download the Skype software. My parents however needed the webcam and microphone, so that's what my mom got for her birthday. After a good week of installation of hardware and software and figuring out what to do, we finally got to talk with each other the other day.
The girls have heard grammy and poppy's voices on speaker phone but it just doesn't compare to seeing them on the computer. Etta was really excited to talk to them as well as look at herself as well. She kept getting her face up real close to the webcam to talk to my parents. I could tell my parents were excited to see the girls as well. Especially Chloe, she is just in super growth right now. It's only been a few months since they've seen either of the girls, but Chloe is so much bigger and mobile now.
It's neat to think that we'll be able to talk with friends and family all the way from Japan (as long as we have fast enough internet connection). It will help close the long distance between us and everyone else. So, if you want to see if your computer is compatible with Skype, check out the web page. Once you've downloaded the software and registered, look us up and give us a call. It's pretty darn fun!
